10-16-2020 Prayer

*Pray for the judges of this nation, that they will seek the wisdom that comes from above. "But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere" (James 3:17).
   PRAISE GOD!
Baby Tinslee’s case has set a precedent that will move mountains-political and legal mountains.  So many lives will be saved based on this one case.  The fight is not over but we are closer to victory!

*Ask the Lord to thwart the efforts of those who would remove religious freedom from our nation. "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery" (Gal. 5:1).

*Pray for truth to become valued again in American society. "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" (John 8:32).
“You are not only responsible for what you say, but also for what you do not say.” – Martin Luther
“Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight.”  Proverbs 12:33
“Do not bear false witness against your neighbor.” Commandment #9
This commandment covers a lot more waterfront than just “do not tell a lie.” It goes to the heart of what we say, what we communicate, and what we are attempting to make our neighbor hear.
This is where context matters. Facts, when presented out of context, can create a lie.

*Pray that our nation will increasingly see that God is our only refuge in the midst of the troubles of this world. "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble" (Ps. 46:1).

Being prepared for battle – we talked yesterday about putting on the whole armor of God.  We must do that every morning because we do not know what battles the day may bring.

Fighting evil without fear
“Evil is powerless if the good are unafraid” - Ronald Reagan
Thank you God that you have not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7)   Help us to remember this daily and to walk in the confidence of your power.

Amen

    Why pray?

Lifting our elections up to the Lord helps all of us keep the focus on the most important topics as well as softens our hearts to love everyone, even those with whom we may disagree.  Believing differently shouldn't stop us from sharing God's love and His Word with others.
"I pray because the need flows out of me all the time – waking and sleeping. It doesn't change God- it changes me.”
    - C. S. Lewis
