On Monday, the Senate voted 52-48 to confirm Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court. Monday evening, Justice Clarence Thomas swore Justice Barrett in on the South Lawn of the White House. “I will do my job without any fear or favor,” said the new associate justice in a speech after being sworn in. “I love the Constitution and the democratic republic that it establishes, and I will devote myself to preserving it.” President Trump said, “This is a momentous day for America, the United States Constitution, and for the fair and impartial rule of law. The Constitution is the ultimate defense of American liberty; the faithful application of the law is the cornerstone of the Republic.” Proverbs 2:7 – He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk in integrity What an incredible answer to our prayers! Thank you, Lord! WISDOM IN DECIDING Proverbs 2:6 – For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. There are many last-minute voters who will head to the polls for in-person balloting. Have they decided who will get a nod from then yet? In a time when divisions are so broad and positions sharply delineated, deciding the right persons to lead America would not seem difficult—your perspective on them, their ideas, and plans for the future might dictate. But for the undecided, now is the day to fall upon your knees and beseech the Lord for His wisdom. Psalm 19:8 says, “The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.” Today’s verse also reminds you that it is the Lord who gives wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. All should look to His Word. Compare His values to the statements of the candidates. Remove their uncertain emotions from the equation and follow the Lord. His plans are holy, right, and noble. He has never led us wrong and never will! Holy God, I pray humbly today for Christian Americans who remain undecided in this election. I ask, Lord, that You would guide them in Your Word to an understanding of what is right, holy, and correct for the United States of America. Give them courage to stand on Your principles, and to be led by Your Holy Spirit in their decisions. Guide them to the persons You have for working out Your sovereign plan for this nation. My trust is fully in You. I pray that the election results will bring You the ultimate glory, in Jesus’ Name, Amen. PRAYER POINTS FOR THIS ELECTION:

Romans 13:11 – The hour has come for you to wake from sleep. Can you sense the urgency of the day? The urgent need for moral direction? The urgent need for understanding? The urgent need for compassion, peace and love? As the world seems to be running full speed ahead into brokenness and darkness, what are you to do? Christ followers are to live so radically different from the world, that the people of the world take notice. God has called you to a life that reflects His love for humankind. You can do that with your general behavior, and your attitudes. Christians are not called to be subtle and secret about loving. Loving God and loving your neighbor can outshine the darkness. But it won’t happen if you are asleep on the job. You can’t know the result of the love you allow to flow from God through you to others, but there will be a glorious unfolding of it someday… perhaps soon. Today I am burdened by the religious persecution throughout our world. I watched a film last night called "Finding Courage" about the persecution of the Chinese who practiced Falun Gong. The CCP decided it was bad so they rounded up everyone (millions!), tortured and killed so many. Burned "propaganda and jailed those who printed fliers or even spoke of the practice. It is on-going today. And this is the China that Joe Biden wants to work more closely with! Let us pray that the Lord has mercy on us and stops the Democrats from gaining any power over America. Pray against us losing our rights to pray to you, love you, and follow you daily, Lord. Heavenly Father, You have shown us what real love is all about. Like the Apostle Paul, we want to leave no debt outstanding except the continuing debt to love one another. Gently nudge us when we drift into selfish attitudes or behaviors that fail to show love to others. Help us especially this week when we are tempted not to be too loving toward those who have voted differently from how we did. Keep us mindful of our need to reflect Your love in everything. Thank You for Your love for us in Jesus, Amen. Acts 26:18 – Open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. PRAYER POINTS TO GUIDE YOU AS YOU PRAY
AS THE LORD LEADS, PRAY FOR
Words are formed first in the heart. Isaiah 29:13 – People draw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me. An elderly and wise rabbi said the problem he had with many Christians was that their “collars and cuffs don’t match.” When quizzed, he elaborated: What comes out of their mouths doesn’t match what their hands are doing. Today’s verse might give an inkling into the reason the rabbi said what he did. They talk the talk but don’t walk the walk. Worshipers in Israel were not short on their praise for the Lord. They would meet in assemblies, sing and chant, dance and feast, but away from their places of worship, daily life took over. They really weren’t any different from many people today who claim to love Jesus with all of their hearts, but live inconsistently, making their purported devotion hollow. God longs for a sincere devotion from His children. While man looks on the outward appearance, God looks on the heart (1 Samuel 16:7). “The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good; and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks” (Luke 6:45). As you prepare to vote, are you considering what God sees in your heart? If your devotion to Him is true, then your actions will fall in line with His Word. PRAY WITH US Merciful God, I long for the meditations of my heart as well as the words of my mouth to be always approved by You, to honor You, and to be consistent as I live out my life. Direct me when my path takes a different turn, and guide my footsteps according to Your plans for me. I surrender to You with absolute trust and devotion Amen. AS THE LORD LEADS, PRAY FOR * For God to be at work through the president as he speaks to voters in New Hampshire. * For safety and encouragement for the president as he travels to New Hampshire and back to the White House today. * For good health, protection, and enjoyment for the president, first lady, and all attendees of the White House Halloween event. https://www.presidentialprayerteam.org/2020/10/25/collars-and-cuffs/ Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God. – 1 Peter 5:6 Moses continually reminded the people of Israel of the mighty hand of God which they first witnessed as they were led from captivity out of Egypt. “To you it was shown, that you might know that the Lord is God; there is no other besides him” (Deuteronomy 4:35). Hundreds of years later, Daniel turned his face to the Lord and pleaded for this same nation which was again in captivity because of its sins and rebelliousness. Today many pray that the Lord would be merciful to this nation; its sins are great and a large number of its people have turned from God to follow their own desires rather than heed His voice. The evil of men’s hearts, and the working of Satan, is evident in the destruction of people’s property and the vitriol that comes from the mouths of those who seek to agitate and destroy a country once proud of the good it can do and people it can help. The United States was and is a nation formed under God’s mighty hand – its Founding Fathers knew that they had a duty to establish a nation with rights given by the Creator, truths that were self-evident. But the Creator God demands a humble nation, one that knows its capabilities but also understands from whom they are derived. This country needs your prayers. Plead for discernment to make proper choices for those who will determine the direction this country will take. Individuals that think more of others than themselves, respect the opinions of others, carry forth the ideals of those pioneers of this unique government. May God’s mighty hand shine forth. AS THE LORD LEADS, PRAY… - For safety and good health for the president as he travels. - For God to be at work through the efforts of the president and Congressional leaders as they look to pass this new legislation. - For guidance for the president as he tackles the many issues facing the nation in the midst of his campaign travel. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. 8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. 11 To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen. |
