Many precincts will meet at this same location but there will be a host that can direct you to our meeting room.  It might be best to arrive a little early to find your group.

What Is a Precinct Convention?

It’s likely you’ve never even heard of one! It’s a little neighborhood meeting being held after the primary election. Very few people show up! At this convention, people can submit platform planks that define what the GOP is. You can also be named a delegate to the next level of conventions, the Senatorial Convention. The Precinct Conventions generally take 30 minutes or so.

Three activities at your Precinct Convention:

1. Selection of a temporary chairman for the meeting. This is usually the permanent precinct chairman.  An envelope of instructions and forms are provided by the Election personnel.
2. Delegates and Alternate Delegates to the Senate/County Convention are elected based on an allotted number for the precinct.
3. Resolutions are proposed planks for the Party platform. They are introduced by those attending the meeting who have voted in that Party’s Primary election (or who sign .  Three copies of each resolution are required to be presented.  (It is usually an effective practice to take as many copies of your resolution as anticipated people attending the precinct meeting for clarity of presentation.)  Each resolution is voted on separately and only those with affirmative votes are sent to the Senate Resolutions Committee. The following paragraph is attached to the end of each resolution:

 
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be sent to the __________Senate District Convention Resolutions Committee from Precinct #_____ of the ____________ County _______________ Party, with the recommendation that it be passed and sent to the State Convention Platform Committee of the________ Party of Texas.
 
 
EXAMPLE for Precinct #3035 in Grapevine, Texas:
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be sent to the 12th Senate District Convention Resolutions Committee from Precinct #3035 of the Tarrant County Republican Party, with the recommendation that it be passed and sent to the State Convention Platform Committee of the Republican Party of Texas.
