10-14-2020 Prayer

Almighty and merciful Father, Hallowed be your name in America, in Texas, and right where each of us is now. Revered, admired, honored — above every name, in church, in politics, in sports, in music, in business, in media, in heaven or in hell. May your presence be the greatest treasure of our lives.
 
Our nation is in chaos. But God is still on His throne. Evil has been turned loose all across our nation and it's time for us to fervently pray. Pray for Christ to reign over our cities and for evil to be thwarted.
 
How large is your heart toward our cities who stew in their sin and misery?  We ask for you to lead all to repentance, forgiveness, and ultimately righteousness.  Have mercy on us as you showed to Nineveh. 
 
We commit to praying for all people during this season, Lord.  Even those with whom we strongly disagree and especially for those whom sow the discord, hate, and division.
 
1 Timothy 2:1-4 (ESV)
1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
 
So important to look beyond what our eyes can see.  The current landscape of our country is not pleasing, peaceful, or quiet.  But all of these can still be found if we focus on the Lord first.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (NKJV)
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
