RESOLUTIONS
Many organizations will share their suggested resolutions and that can be a great starting point if they represent issues about which you care. Below are a few of those organizations. You may also find that some voters and precinct chairs will post theirs on social media for public consumption.
Texas Right To Life
Texas Public Policy Foundation
Christians Engaged
Gun Owners of America
Texas Eagle Forum
Texans for Lawsuit Reform
True Texas Project
Texans for Vaccine Choice/Medical Freedom
Here are the Texas Eagle Forum resolutions from 2020: https://www.texaseagleforum.com/resolutions
And here are a few ideas from two of our local voters, Justin Ead and Mitchell Ryan, from the 2020 convention season.
From Justin Ead
I will be posting some on my Facebook wall in a few days.
The main ones I have in mind at this time:
-Opposing the legalization of recreational marijuana.
-Removing the mental health funding plank.
-Ending Auxiliaries and Coalitions.
-A new rule to better hold legislators accountable when they oppose our platform and/or priorities.
From Mitchell Ryan:
Add to line in Preamble: We recognize that the traditional family is the strength of our nation, and our modern government’s primary aim should be to promote measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society.
Add to Criminal and Civil Justice, We call upon the federal government to enforce Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act and remove liability protection from big tech platforms for their fraudulent and unfair censorship of Americans, Republicans in particular, in an effort to manipulate our democratic process outside of law. [Federal]
We urge the Legislature to pass and Governor to sign a version of 86(R) SB 2373 to push back against political and religious censorship against their constituents. [State]
Repeal article 32. Like the founders of the United States, we believe Nations who honor God’s commandments will be blessed by His hand.
We support President Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s comments and condemnation of the South African government’s racially motivated “farm seizures and expropriations” and the “large scale killing” of white farmers.
We demand the Citizenship Clause of the 14th amendment be applied as originally intended, and as explicitly stated on record by the author of the Clause, Senator Jacob Howard (R-MI) in 1866, “This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the government of the United States, but will include every other class of persons.”
We demand the immediate end of the H1B Visa program, as well as other Visa programs as currently constructed, which have harmed America workers by suppressing their wages and making American workers compete with the entire world labor market in their own country.
We call on the Texas Legislature to impose a tax or fee on foreign wire-transfers and such remittance fees shall be submitted to the Treasury of Texas to be expended for the purpose of border security and other infrastructure needs.
